Review highlights
Based on 7,697 reviewsPrakash Shakahari Upahar Kendra in Dadar West is widely recognized for its authentic Maharashtrian vegetarian cuisine, often praised for classic dishes like sabudana vada, misal pav, and thalipeet that deliver a nostalgic, homestyle experience. Customers appreciate the consistent quality and traditional flavors that make it a beloved breakfast destination. The eatery maintains an old-school charm with a no-frills setup, including shared tables and a strict cash-only policy. While the food quality garners high marks, service speed and comfort receive mixed feedback, with occasional waits and slower order processing noted, especially during busy weekends. Overall, it remains a must-visit spot for those seeking genuine Maharashtrian culinary delights in Mumbai.
One of Dadar’s oldest Maharashtrian vegetarian spots, Prakash Upahar Gruha has been a staple for years. I had the sabudana vada, thalipeet, and batata vada all were just as delicious as I remember from my childhood. The piyush here is also good. Pro tip: Cash only, So make sure you carry enough or be wary if you’re a GPay user. Also they charge for extra chutney. Despite the old school vibe, the flavors remain spot on. It’s a great place for some genuine Maharashtrian snacks.
One of the oldest eateries of Dadar that serves amazing quality of breakfast and food with typical Maharashtrian taste. The place is definitely your goto place if you are in Mumbai or Dadar. Expect a queue and waiting of 30 mins minimum on weekends. Few things to keep in mind: They share tables, they don't accept any sort of Digital payment and hence cash only outlet. They serve soul satisfying food which might not be insta aesthetic but tastes like a heaven. Must try their Thali peeth, Sabudana vada, Kothambir vadi, Piyush, Sol kadhi and Missal
Authentic Maharashtrian Experience at Prakash (Dadar West) If you're looking to try real Maharashtrian food, Prakash Shakahari Upahaar Kendra near Dadar Station (West) is a must-visit. It's a legendary spot that serves traditional, no-frills, home-style dishes that Maharashtrians swear by. Misal Pav – A spicy, flavorful treat served with farsan and soft pav. Not too oily, and the spice level is perfectly balanced with the tarri. True Puneri style. Thalipeeth – Nutritious, rustic, and served with a generous dollop of white homemade butter and curd. Crisp outside, soft inside – exactly how thalipeeth should be. Sabudana Wada – Crisp on the outside, soft and melt-in-mouth on the inside. Served with a cooling peanut curd chutney. One of the best in Mumbai. Don’t miss their Piyush – a rich, creamy drink that completes the meal beautifully. Pros: Authentic taste Affordable prices Quick service Nostalgic, simple seating
One of the finest places in Dadar ! Undoubtedly their Shabudana Vada is the best !! Misal is also quite unique and a must try item..Pretty decent place to have a breakfast, although a bit expensive...
Amazing traditional Maharashtrian food. No doubt about the taste and quality. The service is not that great though. Took 15 minutes just to take out order.
